Potent Storm With 50 MPH Winds Nears East Coast: Here's Timing

A powerful cross-country storm fueled by a strong cold front will bring strong wind gusts of up to 50 miles per hour as it pushes off the East Coast.

The time frame for the system is Sunday, March 16 into St. Patrick's Day on Monday, March 17, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms are expected from northern Florida to New York state. (Click on the second image above.)

It's part of a massive system that will spread across 30 states from Friday, March 14 into early Monday, with a significant threat of tornadoes in southern Tennessee, Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi.

It will become cloudy on Saturday, March 15 with patchy fog, drizzle and showers possible.
